Studies have shown (https://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/EJ1201792.pdf) that when students are interested in what they are learning, especially with regards to languages, they have heightened attention and are more emotionally engaged. The use of stories, games and other engaging activities reinforces the curriculum used here in Bavaria but also extends it, allowing students to grasp concepts that have previously eluded them.
